COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners suspended board rules and formally approved a revised bonding resolution for the Branch County Jail project during an electronic meeting on Thursday.
Branch County Bond Counsel John Axe from the Detroit firm of Clark Hill told Commissioners the resolution covered two items including a revised lease contract approved last June by the Branch County Building Authority which reduces the maximum amount of the project to $26 million.
Branch County Administer Bud Norman said they expect to go to the bond market in early May.
Branch County voters approved a 20 year millage in August of 2018 for the new jail.
The request was for no more than 1.25 mills per year with an option to refinance after seven years.
