LOS ANGELES, CA (WTVB) – The U.S. women’s national soccer team is being dealt a major blow in its fight for equal pay. A federal judge ruled Friday the athletes have insufficient evidence “to create a genuine issue of material fact for trial.” It’s the latest development in the women’s lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation. Several team members claim gender discrimination played a role in the pay gap between them and the men’s team, despite far more success. The team said they are disappointed by the ruling, but remain committed to “ensuring that girls and women will not be valued as lesser just because of their gender.”
