Michael Charles King, Sr., 67, of Battle Creek, went home to be with his Father on Friday, June 5, 2020.
Mike was born March 18, 1953 in Battle Creek, MI to Jack H. and Betty I. (Partin) King. He was a 1971 graduate of Union City. On July 24, 1971, Mike married Katherine Thompson and they had three children. They later divorced and he went on to marry Sheri Beatty.
Mike drove for and retired from Battle Creek Transit. He received an award for his quick action that saved the entire bus garage from burning to the ground. He loved to hunt and fish. Mike was known as the king of doing burnouts; no one loved having fun as he did. His quick-witted, snarky personality kept everyone in tears from laughter. You couldn’t help but love him. He always did things his way.
He is survived by his wife, Sheri King of Battle Creek; children, Michael (Elysha) King, Jr. of Scotts and Shallon King of Battle Creek; daughter-in-law Elizabeth King of Battle Creek; and step-children, Bobbie Jo King of Battle Creek and Aaron King of Battle Creek; siblings, Robert (Nancy) King of Girard, Jackie (Tom) Robbins of Athens, Joseph (Elizabeth) King of Burlington and Tiffany King of Union City; step-sister Shannon Henshaw of Union City; grandchildren, Jason King, Jr., William King, Caleb King, Travis Williamson, Michal King III, Bradley Harris and Ashley King; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his son, Jason King, Sr.; his first love, Kathy King; step-brother Matt Smith; step-daughter Amanda King and his hunting buddy, Greg Burrett.
A public graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, June 12, 2020 at North Sherwood Cemetery in Sherwood Township. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.
