Otto Collins, 84, of Burlington Township, passed away at home Friday, June 19, 2020.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Burlington Township Cemetery with Pastor Pete Payne officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Otto was born August 20, 1935 in Ivyton, Kentucky to Buddie and Goldie (Perkins) Collins. He came to Michigan in 1939, where he attended Union City Schools and lived in the Burlington area for the remainder of his life.
On August 2, 1957, he married the former Marian Hamilton in Marshall. Their union lasted 62 years.
Otto was employed by Polymer Tech in Battle Creek and Griswold Manufacturing in Union City. He also farmed on M Drive South. He liked hunting, going mushrooming and watching Westerns on TV, especially “Gunsmoke.” Otto was also a good storyteller. He had been a member of the Union City Assembly of God Church since the mid-1990s.
Survivors include Otto’s wife, Marian; his nieces and nephews, Mark Slone, Robin Brown, Verniece Williams, Barbara Trusty, Carl Collins, Jennifer Hopkins, Missy Damon, Anthony Damon, Heather Damon, Daniel Damon II, Kathy Damon, Rhonda and Renda and numerous others; his brothers-in-law, Bob Hamilton and Daniel Damon; and his adopted dog “Bear.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
