BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – In high school cross country, Quincy split a Big 8 Conference meet with Homer Thursday. The Orioles were beaten in the boys meet 27-32 while Quincy won the girls meet 25-34.
Homer’s Alec Shaw won the boys race. He was followed by Quincy’s Rhett Reif, Erik Butchart and Jacob Reif.
Megan Sterly of Homer won the girls race followed by Quincy’s Avery Rufenacht and Sadie Miller. Other top ten finishers for the Orioles were Mollie Butchart (5th), Abigail Harmon (7th), Grace Lindsley (8th), Elise Wright (9th) and Libby Butchart (10th).
Reading defeated Union City 23-32 in a Big 8 Conference boys meet. Tyler Bays of Reading finished first with Union City’s Maddox Miller finishing third. Hunter Sinke was fifth. Other Chargers in the top ten were Ryan Millirans (7th), William Wallen (8th) and Christopher Millirans (9th).
There was no team score in the girls meet as neither squad had enough runners. Margaret Steele of Reading was first while Amelia June of Union City was second.
