LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) — Some ticket reselling will be legalized, now that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed the tie-barred Senate Bills 384 and 385.
The bill decriminalizes reselling a ticket for more than face value. This means a person can recoup costs and fees of a ticket, should they decide not to attend an event, by reselling.
At the same time, the new rules protect buyers by requiring sellers to actually possess or have control of the ticket before attempting to sell it.
The new rules also ban people from “using, selling, purchasing, or possessing ‘ticketing bot’ software for buying large amounts of event tickets.
Senate Bill 384 was sponsored by Sen. Erika Geiss, D-Taylor, sponsored SB 384; Sen. Tom Barrett, R-Charlotte, sponsored Senate Bill 385.
