COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A bid to repair and replace the roof at the old Putnam Funeral Home is scheduled to come before the Coldwater City Council Monday night.
The City recently acquired the building and property located at 11 East Chicago Street with plans to have the landscaping and perimeter of the building cleaned up.
City Manager Keith Baker says in his memo to the Council that in addition, “City staff would like to have the roof replaced as soon as possible to mitigate further damage to the building.” It’s hoped the work can be done before the onset of winter.
Baker added the City solicited bids to remove and replace the asphalt shingled roof of the three-story building but finding a company to complete the work within a short time frame has proven difficult.
Braman Roofing submitted the only bid to the City in the amount of $42,180. If approved by the City Council, Baker says the project would be paid for through the City’s Blight Elimination fund in the Planning Department budget.
Also on Monday night, the City Council will be asked to approve Mayor Tom Kramer’s appointment of Salwa Alsuraimi to the City of Coldwater Planning Commission. She will fill the partial term vacancy left by Jessika Cole which expires in May 2022.
