Charles L. Diamond, 71, of Sherwood, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
A private burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. A public celebration of life will be held from 2:30-4:30 PM on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Lighthouse of Athens Event Hall.
Charles was born on June 5, 1949, one of 16 children born to Lawrence and Shirley Diamond. On January 8, 1996, he married Su Mock. Charles served in the U.S. Navy 1968-1972. He was a lifelong farmer, truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He had worked at Clark Equipment and at the National Cemetery in North Carolina. Charles enjoyed gardening, fishing, mushrooming, anything mechanical and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Su; daughter Angelica (John) Diamond-Bowen of Union City; son Gabriel (Christine) Diamond of Kentucky; special nieces Cassandra (Adam) Nageldinger of Sherwood and Yolanda (Taylor) Huerta of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Michael (Barb) Diamond, Bernard (Cathy) Diamond, Dave Diamond and Vincent Diamond; sisters, Ann Woodward, Susan Diamond, Regina Worthington, Joan Nelson, Natalie Poole, Lucia (Ron) Peet and Lawrena Diamand; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Edward, Paul, Fabian and Timothy.

I was very sad to hear about the death of Charles. He was such a good person, always having a smile and being upbeat. As a neighbor, every time I passed his house, I’d see him busy doing something. My thoughts and prayers are with Su and his family.
