FAWN RIVER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – One person was killed and two others were injured Tuesday afternoon in a St. Joseph County crash.
The Michigan State Police says all of the persons involved were from Sturgis and that the crash happened at about 12:47 p.m. on U.S. 12 near Carls Road.
Troopers say a 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by a 43-year-old man was westbound on U.S. 12 when a 2001 Ford F-150 driven by a 39 year-old man crossed the center line and struck the Jeep head-on.
The 43-year-old man driving the Jeep Liberty was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 42-year-old female passenger in the Jeep was taken to Sturgis Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries as was the driver of the F-150.
Assisting at the scene were the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, Tri-Township Fire Department, Life Care Ambulance, Three Rivers Ambulance and the Michigan State Police Fifth District Accident Reconstructionist.
