ATLANTA, GA (WTVB) – Matthew Stafford found T.J. Hockenson from 11 yards out as time expired to lift the Detroit Lions to a wild 23-22 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta Sunday.
Stafford engineered an eight-play, 75-yard scoring drive in the final 64 seconds. Matt Prater, who kicked field goals of 49, 50 and 51 yards, added the game-winning extra point as the Lions improved to 3-3. D’Andre Swift accounted for the other Lions TD. Kenny Golladay had six receptions for 114 yards, including a 29-yard catch to set up the winning TD.
Todd Gurley’s 10-yard TD run and a two-point conversion with just over a minute left had given the Falcons a 22-16 lead. Matt Ryan passed for 338 yards and a touchdown for Atlanta, which slipped to 1-and-6.
Gurley finished with 63 yards and two TD’s on the ground in defeat. Julio Jones had eight catches for 97 yards.
The Lions will try to extend their winning streak to three straight this coming Sunday when they face the Indianapolis Colts at home.
