EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – New head coach Mel Tucker and the rest of his staff will be looking for answers this week, after Rutgers upset Michigan State University 39-27 in the Spartans’ season opener Saturday in East Lansing.
Rutgers snapped a 21-game Big Ten losing streak. MSU quarterback Rocky Lombardi threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns, but also had two picks. Jayden Reed had 11 catches for 128 yards and two TD’s in defeat.
MSU visits U-of-M on Halloween in the Battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy.
