COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The newest member of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department was sworn in this week.
New Road Patrol Deputy Dakota Fox started his duties on Monday. He was undergo field training over the next couple of months.
The 21-year-old previously served in the Detroit Police Department. Fox fills a vacant position at the Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff John Pollack told the Branch County Board of Commissioners on Thursday they are now only short one position with two recently hired deputies wrapping up their academy work this week.
Meanwhile, there was a significant development in the construction of the new Branch County Jail this week as the inmate cells arrived at the construction site. County Administrator Bud Norman said during Thursday’s Commissioners meeting everything is moving along.
The jail is scheduled to open in September of 2021.
