COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Area Food Pantry conducted their annual distribution of holiday food boxes to 1,200 families on Saturday.
The boxes are full of food for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and are intended to help those in need who maybe struggling during the holiday season.
The planning for the annual distribution starts during the summer time as food and donations are collected from the community.
The Pantry is totally operated by volunteers.
Saturday’s distribution of food had to be handled differently than in years past because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 30 volunteers were on hand to help distribute food but the Food Pantry was unable to use area service groups.
Also because of COVID-19, those receiving a distribution of food had to stay in their cars. Coldwater Police and Fire helped out once again with traffic control.
