RICHLAND, MI (WTVB) – Former Michigan Department of Corrections Warden Carol Howes has passed away at the age of 79.
The native of Kalamazoo served as a warden at the Florence Crane Correctional Facility, the Lakeland Correctional Facility and at Camp Branch before retiring in 2012.
Howes worked as a warden in the M.D.O.C. for 27 years.
She was also am adjunct professor in the Criminal Justice Program at Kellogg Community College for 24 years.
At one time, she was a Peace Corps volunteer in Nigeria from 1968-1970.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
