COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The retirement of a veteran law enforcement officer has led to some changes at the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective Sgt. Dan Nichols will be retiring from the Sheriff’s Department at the end of the month. Nichols was hired in 1988.
He was honored with a special award during a Branch County Board of Commissioners meeting in March of 2019 for 30 years of service to the Sheriff’s Department.
With Nichols retiring, Sgt. David Fillmore has been promoted from road patrol duties to Detective Sergeant while Deputy Frank Barker has been promoted to Sergeant.
Fillmore and Barker have both worked for the Sheriff’s Department since 1993.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler says they are looking to fill two vacant deputy positions. Anyone who is interested can get an application from Eichler by calling (517) 278-2325.
