COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County’s eighth annual Shop with a Cop event was still held this year but the COVID-19 pandemic led to some changes.
Thanks to the Shelter House and Walmart, youngsters at the Shelter House were still able to go shopping.
Unlike in past years, officers were not able to take the children in their patrol cars, fire engines and ambulances but they were able to deliver their gift cards with lights and sirens blaring.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office delivered to the Shelter House while the Coldwater Police Department delivered to individual residences within the city.
The Shop with a Cop program is sponsored by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department and organized by the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.
Nearly two dozen Branch County police and fire agencies are involved in the yearly event.
