COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A third vaccine has joined the fight against COVID-19. A vaccine from Johnson and Johnson is being shipped nationwide after it was approved over the weekend by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency Health Officer Rebecca Burns told the agency’s Board of Health last Thursday this is a single dose vaccine.
She added since it is a one dose vaccine, it will help those who may not be able to get a second dose.
Some of the Johnson and Johnson vaccines are made in Grand Rapids.
Mercy Health St. Mary’s chief medical officer Dr. Matthew Biersack says they will be able to get to more rural and underserved areas that don’t have access to ultra-cold storage needed for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.
