Kenneth Ivan Slauson, 79, of Coldwater, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at his home following a long battle against Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail in Union City, with Pastor Josh Engelhart of Agape Center in Coldwater officiating. Interment will follow at Abscota Cemetery in Burlington Township. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon, at Lighthouse, just prior to the funeral on Saturday, March 20, 2021.
Ken was born on March 30, 1941 to Violet Schofield in Battle Creek, Michigan, and lived there during his youth. On March 30, 1985, he married his soulmate and best friend, Pennie (Harper) Jones. Ken worked at United Steel & Wire for more than 40 years, until his retirement in 2007. He loved to fish and golf and maintain his beautiful lawn. He especially enjoyed attending church and spending time with his Christ Alive Church family.
In addition to his wife, Pennie, Ken is survived by his children, Deanne Miner of Union City and Janice Slauson of Coldwater, and his stepson, Rick (Laurie) Jones of Caledonia. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tiffany (Justin) Elkins of Coldwater, Amber Miner and Brandy Gonzales of Haslett, Joshua (Erin) Reeves of Sherwood, Jana Slauson of Coldwater and Courtney Slauson of Union City; three step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Additionally, Ken is survived by his siblings, Linda Finnerty, Ann (Dick) Flora, Richard (Marlene) Schofield and Steve Schofield.
Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Schofield; sisters, Jerilyn Gabos and Shirley Alvord; daughters, Penny Gaither and Lisa Slauson; and his stepson, Jerry Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
