BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Three Branch County wrestlers won championships on Saturday at the M.H.S.A.A. Division Four individual districts in Hudson.
Bronson advanced 12 wrestlers to next weekend’s individual regional tournament including district champions J.C. DePaz and Justin Blankenship. DePaz won the 171 pound title on a pin while Blankenship took the 215 pound title on a 8-5 decision.
Other Vikings who qualified for the regionals were Perry Lake (2nd-112), Logan Long (4th-119), Dakota Miller (4th-125), Drew Seekman (3rd-135), Ben Thomas Grate (3rd-140), Aricin Smith (4th-145), Craig Tappenden (2nd-160), Jared Shotzman (3rd-189), Matt Blankenship (4th-215) and Blayn Gibson (2nd-289).
Union City sent five onto the regionals including district champion Garrett Iobe who captured the 152 pound district title on a 19-4 technical fall. Other Chargers advancing were Andrew Linnaberry-Smith (4th-140), Robert Heckman (3rd-171), Wyatt King (4th-189) and Grady Iobe (2nd-215).
Four Quincy wrestlers advanced out of the Division Three Individual Districts hosted by Dundee. Gerl Pish was second at 160 pounds. Jacob Reif (112), Tyler Saterlee (189) and Davin George (215) all finished third in their weight classes.
Three Coldwater wrestlers advanced out of the Division Two Individual Districts hosted by Harper Creek. Marshall Hoard was second at 135 pounds. Logan Pike (112) and Hashed Abdullah (119) both finished fourth.
