CONCORD, MI (WTVB) – It was a tough regular season for the Quincy Orioles girls basketball team but they are through to the semifinals of the M.H.S.A.A. Division Three Districts at Concord as they defeated arch rival Reading on Monday night 35-29.
It was a defensive battle all night long. Quincy led 6-1 after the first quarter and 15-10 at the half.
An even third quarter allowed the Orioles to take a 22-17 lead into the fourth. Quincy edged the Rangers 13-12 in the final eight minutes to secure their third win of the season.
Breanne Reif led Quincy with 11 points while Samantha Hagaman had 10 points.
The 3-12 Orioles will face Concord Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in a D3 District Semifinal game at Concord.
The Quincy-Concord winner will face either Homer or Union City for the District championship on Friday night.
Meanwhile, in the Division Three District Tournament at White Pigeon, Centreville defeated Marcellus 44-38. The Bulldogs will face top-seeded Bronson in the semifinals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The winner will face either White Pigeon or Schoolcraft in the finals on Friday night.
