With great regret, we announce the passing of Laura Millard, who was the daughter of Carl and Elizabeth (Harmon) Loud. She was born on July 31, 1946 in Coldwater. She passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 in Quincy.
Laura is survived by her sisters Lucy Ann Loud, Linda (Jim) Loud Mackey, Martha (Jorge) Loud Capestany, twin brothers, Charles and Stephen Loud, and her son Charles Gallop Jr.
As a graduate of St. Charles High School, St. Charles Church engaged Laura to play the organ for 2 morning services every school day for all of her high school years, the 6:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Catholic Masses. As an accomplished pianist, she was able to transition to the organ with ease.
She had been employed at the Coldwater Reporter and then Allstate in Marshall, MI leading to her retirement. She had been a part of the Adapt Clubhouse Coldwater, enjoyed horses, and had always appreciated her lunch and dinner meet ups with her brother Stephen. Every Memorial Day weekend Laura and her brother Stephen would also visit the surrounding cemeteries to provide care, maintenance, and flowers to the graves of their friends and loved ones which she had grown so fond of over the many years they had done so.
She impressed friends and neighbors with her cooking and gardening skills. She loved the outdoors; fishing, swimming, hunting, and spending time in the sun were among her favorites.
Laura became adept at working on early Mustangs and Avanti Studebakers. Her math skills really paid off in this endeavor.
After an extended battle with her health over the years, Laura passed away peacefully in long term care in Quincy, just down the road from her beloved Coldwater. May the Lord bless her and keep her. A private graveside service will be held for Laura at Mason Cemetery at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
