John B. Letendre, 79, of Sherwood, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 at 1:30 PM at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, prior to the service, from 11:00 – 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
John was born November 28, 1941 in Highland Park, MI to Hector & Dorothy (Rollins) Letendre. He served honorably in the US Navy from 1960-1964. John married Catherine E. Biros on January 11, 1964 in Hillsdale, MI. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2018.
Mr. Letendre worked for 30 years for the U.S. Postal Service in Union City, retiring in 1996. He had a passion for farming and spent many years on his family farm raising registered Polled Hereford Cattle and participating in competitions. John was an active member of St. Mary of Assumption Church. He enjoyed traveling and advocated for what he believed in. John was a dedicated family man. He found great joy in spending time with his family and especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
John is survived by his children Robert Letendre of Angola, IN, Mark (Angie) Letendre of Coldwater, Nicole (Jeff) Skaggs of Marion, IN, his grandchildren Kelsie, Christine, Jordan, Cathy, Caleb, Trey, Bailey and Greyson; great grandchildren Jasmyn and Beckett. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant twins John and Stephen.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
