NORTH WEBSTER, IN (WTVB) – Earlier forecasts for three to seven inches of snow in Branch County have dropped but frigid temperatures over the next couple of nights could cause some problems for those with agricultural interests.
The latest report from the National Weather Service shows two to four inches of snow is expected to fall in southeastern Branch County but heavier amounts are expected in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio where some locations could get up to six inches of snow.
Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for Hillsdale and Steuben Counties from 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening until 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
But cold temperatures are expected and the National Weather Service issued Freeze Warnings in ten states from Michigan all the way south to Texas.
Freeze Warnings in Michigan are in effect from Tuesday evening until Thursday morning.
During the advisory period, sub-freezing temperatures in the mid-20s are expected both Tuesday and Wednesday during the overnight hours. Slightly warmer temperatures are possible along the Lake Michigan shoreline, mainly on Wednesday night.
Widespread freezing conditions are expected to cause some damage to budding fruit trees and other sensitive vegetation. Crop losses are possible and the cold temperatures could damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
By Thursday afternoon, temperatures will rebound into the 50s and will be near 60 during the day on Friday.
