COMSTOCK, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy boys track team won seven events as they captured first place on Friday night at the Comstock Invitational.
Quincy won with 187 points followed by Centreville with 143 points. Bronson finished fifth behind Bloomingdale and Portland.
The Orioles got wins from Erik Butchart in the 1600, Jacob Reif in the 3200, Tae’Sean Bodley in the 110 hurdles, Nolan Nohr in the 300 hurdles, Ethan Hollister in the long jump and A.J. Henderson in the shot put. The team of Bodley, Hollister, Ben Schreur and Axel Beltran won the 400 relay.
Centreville won the girls meet with 195 1/2 points. Quincy was second with 155 1/2. Bronson finished fourth behind Bloomingdale.
Bronson’s Jenna Salek won the 200 and the 400.
Quincy dominated the field events with four wins. Finishing first for the Orioles were Raigan Horsfall in the shot put, Sophia Snellenberger in the discus, Nikkia Cronk in the high jump and Anna Turner in the pole vault.
HASTINGS, MI – The Coldwater track teams were swept by the Hastings Saxons on Friday in an Interstate 8 meet.
Hastings swept the relay races and won four out of five field events as they Saxons defeated Coldwater 107-56 in the boys meet.
Gavin Budd won the 100 and the 200 for Coldwater. Other Cardinal winners were Antonio Potter in the 800, Myron Lafty in the 1600, John Aerts in the 3200, and Kenny Cramer in the shot put.
Hastings also won the girls 101½ to 49½.
Coldwater’s Chloe Schaale won the 100 and the 200. Schaale, Makayla Yuhas-Jones, Jatziri Martinez, and Sarah Forrister teamed up to win the 400 relay. Jaelah Sloan, Yuhas-Jones, Martinez, and Claudia Rivera-Rodriguez won the 1600 relay.
