JONESVILLE, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings girls softball team remained undefeated in the Big 8 Conference as they swept a doubleheader at Jonesville on Tuesday by scores of 4-3 and 3-2.
Lynsey Smith was the winning pitcher in both games. She struck out 14 batters and pitched a complete game four-hitter in the opener. Smith pitched four shutout innings of relief with six strikeouts in the nightcap.
Jaydn Cary had a double and an RBI in the first game for Bronson.
Kaylee Withington drove in the winning run in the last of the seventh of the second game with an RBI single.
Bronson Coach Becky Grey said, “I am very proud of the way these girls found a way to win tonight. We still have to work on doing the little things right but tonight they figured out a way to win 2 games in the 7th inning. That’s huge.”
The Vikings are now 8-5 overall and 6-0 in the Big 8. They will host Athens on Thursday.
