READING, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers split their Big 8 Conference baseball doubleheader at Reading on Tuesday.
The Chargers won game one 16-0 before the Rangers came back to take the second game 15-5.
Union City used a pair of six run innings to win the opener.
Game one winning pitcher Kyle Johnson struck out eight in five innings of work. Cam Dibert led the Chargers offense with three hits and four RBI’s.
Union City had a 3-0 lead after two innings of the second game before the Rangers rallied. Reading broke the game open with a seven run seventh inning.
The Chargers are now 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the Big 8.
