David Lewis Booth, 71, of Union City, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City, with Pastor Shayne Looper from Lockwood Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2021, also at Lighthouse in Union City.
David was born October 5, 1949 in Coldwater, Michigan to Lewis Elmont and Grace (Schuch) Booth. He grew up in Union City and lived there all his life. After graduating from Union City High School in 1968, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1969-1975 and was stationed in Puerto Rico as a flight inspector. He returned to Union City and had resided in the same home since then.
David was always a hardworking person, beginning with delivering newspapers as a kid. He later worked for Gamble’s Hardware, Dale Weber’s hardware store, Pomfret’s Glass in Coldwater, Harmon Auto Glass (formerly BC Glass), and Sturgis Glass. He officially retired in 2017.
In addition to having a strong work ethic, David was also a warm, kind and generous person. He loved his country and his town, where he was a member of American Legion Post #196. He enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for his fudge and pies.
David is survived by a brother, Rob (Debra) Booth of East Leroy; a sister-in-law, Beckey (Terry) Knowles of Union City; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, Marty and Margaret Mains and Rob and Teesha Denniston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, William “Bill” Booth, Richard Booth, Donald Booth and Marjorie Williamson; and his nephews, Andrew Booth and Corey Williams.
