WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVB) – The U.S. Treasury Department announced on Monday that Michigan state and local governments will get nearly $11 billion in funding through the American Rescue Plan.
The Treasury Department says the State of Michigan will receive over $6-and-a-half billion while cities and counties will receive billions more. The funding allocations for towns is expected in the coming days.
Branch County is line to get over $8-point-4 million. As for neighboring counties, Hillsdale County will get over $8-point-8 million, Calhoun County will get over $26 million while St. Joseph County will get over $11-point-8 million.
Michigan U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow said in a statement on Monday that the American Rescue Plan included $350 billion in direct aid to states and cities to assist local government that experienced tax revenue shortfalls as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
