CONCORD, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles won the Big 8 Conference Boys Golf Tournament on Tuesday with a score of 385, beating Springport who finished second with a 397.
Quincy went into the tournament needing to win in order to secure a tie with Springport for the conference championship.
Sam Sawyer and Brandt Neely led Quincy as they each fired a 91 and were co-medalists for the tournament.
Also scoring were Dave Milliman with a 97, and Michael Bostic with a 106. Riley Iwanicki and Brodie Mainstone rounded out the six-man team. Sawyer and Neely also finished in the top 10 earning all-conference honors.
Sawyer finished as the league MVP with a scoring average of 45.5.
The Orioles will be competing in the regionals on June 2 at HawksHead Links Golf Course in South Haven.
Bronson finished fourth in Tuesday’s tournament. Connor Covey led the Vikings with a 100. Union City did not have enough golfers for a team score. Brayton Mears had a 103 for the Chargers.
