BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater closed out the Interstate 8 portion of their schedule on Tuesday as they swept a doubleheader at Harper Creek by scores of 5-4 and 4-3.
The Cardinals are now 10-3 in the Interstate 8 and 22-8 overall.
Brynden Massey was the winning pitcher in the first game with Aiden Marsden earning the save. Massey and Marsden both doubled. Massey also drove in two runs.
Nate Tappenden was the winning pitcher in the second game which featured a dramatic finish. The Beavers loaded the bases with one out in the last of the seventh but Tappenden struck out the last two batters to preserve the Cardinal win. Logan Farmer’s RBI single in the top of the seventh drove in what proved to be the winning run.
The Coldwater J.V. team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Mason by scores of 6-3 and 8-5.
