COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Health Officer Rebecca Burns told the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency Board of Health on Thursday that the Agency continues to vaccinate individuals in the tri-county area but at a much slower pace.
Burns says when Pfizer received authorization to vaccinate 12 to 15 year olds they saw a small spike, but that seems to have slowed as well.
She said there are plans to bring vaccines to communities over the next few months through Project Connect.
In addition, vaccine appointments can still be made at www.bhsj.org.
COVID-19 protocols have been relaxed in recent weeks but Burns said they still want to vaccinate as many people as possible against the virus.
Burns showed a quick visual to the board on what has happened with regards to demand for vaccination in recent weeks in Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph Counties saying in her report, “We think of it as falling off a cliff”.
According to statistics presented by Burns, 14,724 Branch County residents which is just under 40 percent of the county population have had their first vaccination while 13,019 residents or about 35 percent are fully vaccinated. The numbers presented were as of this past Tuesday.
