BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The latest statistics from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services shows the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Branch County between May 28 and June 3 dropped by 49 percent when compared to the previous week.
There were 21 cases reported out of 526 tests that were conducted. That compares to 41 new cases that were reported the previous week.
The positivity rate in Branch County also dropped to 4-point-8 percent during that time period.
The State of Michigan has dropped below three percent on the seven day average for positivity rates for the first time since last September.
Branch County’s vaccination rates are still lagging far behind the State of Michigan.
The M.D.H.H.S. reports just over 40 percent of Branch County’s residents have gotten at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while about 36 percent are fully vaccinated.
The State of Michigan says just over 59 percent of those 16 and older have gotten at least the first dose with about 47 percent fully vaccinated.
