COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The year may not be half way done but it’s almost time for Branch County department heads to start putting together their proposed 2022 budgets.
County Administrator Bud Norman told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session last Thursday that budget worksheets will be distributed to departments by July 19th to start the process.
After Norman and department heads meet, the first draft of the budget will come to Commissioners on September 23.
The final budget is scheduled to be adopted on December 21.
Meanwhile, Norman says the county has gotten $4.2 million of federal stimulus funds that were part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act with another $4.2 million coming by June of next year.
There are specific uses for this money and Norman says it must be spent appropriately by the end 2024.
