(LANSING, MI) – The latest statistics from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Monday showed that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Branch County went up by two last week when compared to the previous week.
The M.D.H.H.S. says there were 26 positive cases reported between June 6 and 12 compared to 24 reported from May 28 until June 5.
There were 494 tests administered for a seven day positivity rate of five-point-five percent between June 5 and 11 which was up from four-point-eight percent the previous week.
Eight Michigan counties had no new COVID-19 last week. They were Clare, Crawford and Lake Counties from the Lower Peninsula along with Alger, Delta, Houghton, Iron and Keweenaw Counties in the U.P..
Michigan’s seven day average on positivity rates is down to just under two percent.
While 60 percent of Michigan residents have now gotten at least the first COVID-19 vaccination, Branch County has had 41 percent of residents get their first shot with 37 percent totally vaccinated.
Most of the vaccinations in Branch County have been administered to older residents. 66 percent of those 65 and older have gotten both shots with 70 percent at least getting the first shot. Those between 50 and 64 have seen 51 percent get at least the first shot with 47 percent totally vaccinated.
Only 27 percent of those between 16 and 49 have gotten the first shot with 23 percent completed.
