COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School girls varsity soccer team has again been named Academic All State and Academic All American by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association and the United Soccer Coaches association.
The 2021 team had a combined grade point average of 3.6127. Seniors Marissa Cox, Alyssa Fisher, Juana Mancera, Lissbet Ramos, and Gabi Rutz were also named Individual Academic All State, with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Those five were also named Interstate 8 Academic All Conference, as well as Anna DeMeester, Ezma Machan, Karen Mancera, Masyn Marsh, Jillian McKinley, Allison Miller, Cara Miller, Taylor Robison, and Kayla Wilber.
In on-the-field honors presented at their Awards Night last week, Anna DeMeester was named to the Interstate 8 All Conference team, with DeMeester, Masyn Marsh, and Allison Miller earning All District Team honors.
In team awards selected by the players, DeMeester and Miller were named co-Most Valuable Players, Demeester was name Best Defensive Player, Masyn Marsh picked as Best Offensive Player, Jillian McKinley and Grace Ortiz named Most Improved, and Marissa Cox and Karen Mancera picked as Hardest Workers.
The Lady Cardinals finished the season 5-12 overall and 2-7 in the Interstate 8 Conference, falling to Eaton Rapids in the opening round of the MHSAA Division Two districts last month.
For the junior varsity team, Haylee Potter was named Most Valuable Player, Kathleen Quimby selected Most Improved, Maya Walinski was named Best Defensive Player, Lily Bockheim named Best Offensive Player, and Bridgette Meyers selected as the Hardest Worker.
