COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital School Telemedicine Program was recently awarded the Expanding, Enhancing Emotional Health Program Expansion award from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
The School Telemedicine Program began in fall of 2013 and included Coldwater and Bronson Community schools. Quincy’s Oriole Connect Clinic began in January 2014. The program was an initiative to bring healthcare to students at their schools. A registered nurse staffs each clinic and is connected via high-speed, secure, telemedicine equipment to the ProMedica Coldwater Pediatric and Adolescent Center.
In the summer of 2018, the team added Legg Telemedicine Clinic to their program. In 2017, the integration began of mental health services within each clinic with the School Wellness Grant.
The Enhancing Emotional Health Program Expansion Grant will help fulfill this vision. Thanks to the award of over $55,000, Oriole Connect in Quincy will now be staffed with a Limited License Master Social Worker Katelyn Hamlin, LMSW, to bring mental health services to students in the school setting.
