COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 during their Thursday work session to bring forward a request from Administrator Bud Norman to change the procedure for the way staffing requests are handled.
Department heads have previously presented staffing requests in front of Commissioners. Norman said the intent focused around hiring freezes and constrained budgeting.
Under Norman’s proposal, elected and department officials would inform the Administrator of vacant positions. The Administrator would then review the information and would bring it to Commissioners if there was a budget increase.
Commissioner Tom Matthew cast the only no vote.
Commissioner Tim Stoll didn’t feel like they were giving up to much.
Norman felt approving the policy would expedite the process for elected and department officials to recruit and replace vacated positions. There would also be an annual review of the updated to see if it should continue.
Formal action on the request is expected to be taken on June 29.

Sure, Let Dud Norman hide the problem from the board and the public. No need for transparency here. What a system!
