BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The latest statistics from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services shows a 67 percent drop in the number of COVID-19 cases in Branch County during the past week.
The state says there were 11 new cases reported between June 30 and July 6 compared to 33 that were reported between June 23 and 29.
Branch County is ranked eighth in the state for the metric of new cases per one million persons.
On the positive side, Michigan is now 42nd among all of the states for the seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases.
Branch County still lags behind the State of Michigan as far as the percentage of residents who have gotten at least one COVID-19 vaccinations.
About 62 percent of Michigan residents 16 years and older have gotten at least the first dose. The latest statistics from the M.D.H.H.S. shows 42 percent of Branch County residents have at least gotten their first vaccination.
The other counties served by the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency have similar numbers as 38 percent of Hillsdale County residents and 43 percent of residents in St. Joseph County have gotten at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Community Health Agency’s office on Marshall Road in Coldwater will be offering the vaccines this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and next Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.. You can make an appointment by going to www.bhsj.org.
