TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA (WKZO AM/FM) – Harold Castro delivered a go-ahead pinch hit single in the top of the tenth inning as the Detroit Tigers ended a four game losing streak on Friday night with a 4-1 victory in Toronto. Castro’s single keyed a three run inning for the Tigers as they bounced back after blowing an eight run lead on Thursday against the Angels.
Jonathan Schoop and Jeimer Candelario both had RBI singles in the tenth.
Tiger starter Tyler Alexander struck out six in seven innings of work. Gregory Soto pitched the last two innings and got the win to improve to 5-3.
The second game of the series will be on Saturday afternoon. Detroit’s Wily Peralta is scheduled to start against Toronto’s Hyun Jin Ryu.
