COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve between 17 months and five years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after entering a no contest plea to violating his probation.
22-year-old Tyler Wesley Chehowski was given credit for 301 days already served in the Branch County Jail.
He was arrested by Coldwater Police in May of 2020 following an incident with a female acquaintance and was placed on 18 months of probation last October for attempted assault with intent to cause great bodily harm less than murder.
Chehowski was then arrested last January by Coldwater Police on a charge of first degree criminal sexual conduct. According to court documents, the alleged incident involving a then 12-year-old girl took place in May of 2019.
He was also scheduled to be sentenced Monday in Circuit Court in the C.S.C. case but the hearing will be rescheduled.
Chehowski agreed with prosecutors to enter a no contest plea to second degree criminal sexual conduct.
