COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A free weekly meal dinner program at the Coldwater United Methodist church is once again up and running this summer after shutting down when the pandemic arrived in the winter of 2020.
Mary and Martha’s Diner serves meals from 4 to 5:30 pm on Thursdays providing what the church says is “nourishment and fellowship to all guests”. The diner was the program topic for last week’s meeting of the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club.
Tom Shenefield, who is a Sunrise Rotarian and one of the church members who currently helps manage the diner, told the club about the people who are served with the project.
The concept for the diner was presented to the church in 2008 by two Coldwater couples, Bill and Jan Robinson along with John and Joan Rohloff.
The United Methodist Church provided the $3,000 seed money to get the M&M Diner going while a number of local businesses, organizations, and individuals in the community have kept the effort alive with their annual donations and in-kind services.
