BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – After two weeks of school in Branch County, a check of the COVID-19 dashboards on the web sites of the four public school districts in the county show a total of 42 positive cases have been reported so far in the 2021-2022 school year.
Since August 19, there have been 18 cases in the Coldwater Community School District with 13 cases reported at the high school, four at Legg Middle School and one at Lakeland Elementary School.
There have been 16 positive cases reported by Quincy Community Schools including 10 at the high school. Three other cases were reported at Jennings Elementary School while there have been three cases at Quincy Middle School.
There have been three positive cases reported by officials in the Bronson Community School district while five cases have been reported in the Union City school district since August 26. All of the Union City cases have been at the high school.
The identity of those who tested positive or who is a probable positive for COVID-19 can not be disclosed by school officials due to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act laws.
Those who test positive for COVID-19 are not allowed to return to school until the date provided by the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.
