COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After several questions were raised, the Coldwater Planning Commission decided on Tuesday night to table a Special Use Permit for the operation of a proposed adult use recreational marijuana establishment at 55 South Michigan Avenue.
Paul Schmitz of Bath, Michigan is the petitioner for the proposed operation.
A single-family home and detached garage will be demolished under the current plans. A new building and parking lots would be constructed. Schmitz plans to have a building with “upscale features and fit the character of the Michigan Avenue corridor.”
But a nearby property owner raised easement concerns and spoke on behalf of a 80-year-old neighbor who was against the project.
Planning Commission members wondered when the property was purchased and when the zoning went into effect. City Planner Dean Walrack will do some research on the issues before its brought back to the Planning Commission.
