COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported on its web site Thursday that the number of Branch County deaths related to COVID-19 has risen to 103.
The Health Agency had been listing 97 Branch County deaths related to COVID-19 since late June. It’s not known if the six latest deaths are related to the recent surge of cases which started in the middle of July thanks in large part to the spread of the Delta variant.
Statistics also show that all three counties served by the Health Agency now have over 100 deaths attributed to the COVID-19 virus. There have been 104 deaths in St. Joseph County and 101 deaths in Hillsdale County.
There were 23 new cases reported in Branch County on Thursday which brought the number of new cases for the last seven days up to 89. Nearly 400 new cases were reported in Branch County during the month of August.
Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the Community Health Agency says there have been 5,209 Branch County COVID-19 cases. St. Joseph County has reported 6,133 cases while Hillsdale County has had 4,525 cases.
