BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Senior Taylor Musselman of Coldwater ended her stellar high school career on Saturday at the M.H.S.A.A. Division II State Finals at the Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek with a 15th place finish.
108 golfers competed for individual and team honors amidst horrible weather conditions of cold, high winds, and heavy rain. Most players were only able to finish 15 or 16 holes on Friday before it began pouring so hard that many of the greens became mini-lakes.
Round One was completed on Saturday morning. Musselman finished the first round with a score of 85. She then ended her second round late in the day on Saturday with an 84.
Coldwater Golf Coach John Petzko says she will go down in Cardinal History as one of the best golfers to come out of Coldwater.
Musselman was all-Conference for the past three years and was runner-up for player of the year in the I – 8 Conference for 2021.
She was on the Varsity Golf Team all four years of high school and made it to the State Finals her last two years.
Musselman was named to the Golf Coaches Association All State Team for 2020, has been nominated for 2021, and likely will be named an All-State player again for this year.
She broke 80 in nine of her invitationals this year and was Medalist in four of those events.
Musselman intends to play golf in college but is undecided on which school she will attend at this time.
