BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson hosted the final Big 8 Conference Cross Country Jamboree of the season on Tuesday afternoon but the Vikings were unable to run because both the girls and boys teams had reached their maximum number of meets prior to the regional competition.
Quincy’s Rhett Reif was second in the boys meet as he broke 17 minutes with a time of 16:59.5. Maddox Miller was the top finisher for Union City as he was 11th with a time of 19:24.8.
Union City’s Skyler Fraley was third in the girls race with a time of 22:31.8. Kyla Burdick was ninth and Amelia June was 15th.
Quincy was led by Charlotte Crabbs who was fourth in a time of 22:39.1. Sadie Miller was sixth, Elise Wright was 12th and Kailey Allman was 14th.
Eight Branch County runners earned All Conference honors for their combined performances in the four conference jamborees
Members of the Girls All Conference team included Bronson’s Sidney Swick and Skyler Fraley of Union City along with Quincy’s Charlotte Crabbs and Sadie Miller.
The Boys All Conference team included Rhett Reif of Quincy along with Ashton Wells, Aden Hathaway and Reagan Mayer of Bronson.
Quincy and Jonesville tied for first place in the girls meet on Tuesday with 52 points apiece. The Orioles won the 6th runner tiebreaker as Quincy’s Mollie Butchart was 20th while Jonesville’s sixth runner to cross the finish line was 26th. Jonesville won the overall final standings by 42 points over Quincy. Union City was fourth while Bronson finished eighth.
Concord won the boys championship as they finished first in all four jamborees this season. Quincy was fourth in the Bronson Jamboree while Union City was sixth. Jonesville was second in the final standings, Bronson was third, Quincy finished sixth and Union City was seventh.
