KENTWOOD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Grand Rapids-area police officer shot and killed a suspect during a recent stabbing during an investigation on Sunday. The 60-year-old suspect was armed with a knife at the time of the shooting, according to the Kentwood Police Department.
Police were sent to the 4500 block of Grantwood Avenue on reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived at the home, there was a fight involving several people inside.
After the officer shot the suspect, medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims suffered stab wounds during the fight.
No officers were injured. The officer who shot the victim was placed on a standard administrative leave while the Kent County Sheriff’s Office investigates the incident.
