COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson man who was facing three charges after he allegedly choked a woman in his South Matteson Street apartment on November 16 is now facing two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the alleged incident.
35-year-old Kristopher Lee Franks was arrested following an investigation by the Bronson Police Department and the Michigan State Police.
He was already facing charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and being in possession of a dangerous weapon.
According to the initial Branch County court documents, the alleged incident took place after Franks approached the woman and asked if they could talk. The alleged victim said she had a difficult time breathing while he allegedly had his hand on her throat. She managed to get free and fled from the apartment following a struggle in which she was elbowed in the nose.
Court documents state in the latest case filing that the alleged victim sustained injuries and “had soreness, burning and other complications after this non-consensual sexual encounter.”
Bond was set at $100,000 on the latest charges and not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of the defendant. Franks was told not to have any contact with the alleged victim should he post bond.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for next Tuesday with a preliminary exam set for December 21.
