UNION TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Two men were arrested by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday in Union Township after deputies say they found methamphetamine and 80 grams of marijuana in their vehicle.
Deputies arrested 35-year-old Jason Work and 52-year-old Roger Lansberg of White Pigeon for being of possession of methamphetamine after a complaint was received of a truck parked alongside the road.
A fourth time habitual offender notice was filed against Lansberg after he was previously convicted in 1989 for Breaking and Entering, in 2003 for possession of meth and in 2005 for absconding from bond.
According to Branch County court documents, deputies found a blue zip up bag in the vehicle which contained a small plastic container with a lid and a snuff tin. The container and the tin both had suspected meth in it which field tested positive for the drug.
Both suspects denied ownership of the meth. The vehicle being driven was registered to Lansberg. The Sheriff’s Department says Work admitted to placing the marijuana in the vehicle but he said it was not his.
Both men were arraigned on Thursday. Probable cause hearings were scheduled for December 21 with preliminary exams on December 28.
