DETROIT MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Gas prices increased in Michigan last week by 15 cents, which set a new record for the year.
The average price across the state now sits at 3.37 per gallon of unleaded regular, which is 20 cents more than last month at this time and 87 cents more than this time last year.
Domestic stocks of gas have increased, and demand has decreased now that the holiday period is over, but Adrienne Woodland of AAA reports that crude oil prices hit $90 per barrel last week, and that, paired with the crisis in the Ukraine, is causing the increase in gas prices.
